Fink Group
Advanced Particles
The Fink group is located in the Department of Chemistry, University of Fribourg, Fribourg, Switzerland.
Coming from the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), we started our activities in the Chemistry Department on October 1st, 2009. Our research is in the field of nanotechnology, with applications in biotechnology and medicine in mind. We tend to select research problems that are highly multidisciplinary. As such, our group consists of people with various backgrounds e.g. in chemistry, chemical and biological engineering as well as materials science.
We have joined forces with the group of Prof. Barbara Rothen-Rutishauser from Berne. Professors Fink and Rothen-Rutishauser share the chair “Bionanomaterials” at the Adolphe Merkle Institute since July 1st, 2011. The Bionanomaterials chair is one of three current positions funded by the Adolphe Merkle Institute for Nanotechnology.
The Adolphe Merkle Institute (AMI) is a recently established independent center of competence at the University of Fribourg, which focuses on research in the area of soft nano- and materials science. It is located in the heart of Western Switzerland, in the bilingual canton of Fribourg.
Prof. Alke Fink will continue to work as an Associate Professor in the Chemistry Department at the University of Fribourg.
